Lord, teach me to be generous,

Lord, teach me to be generous,

to serve you as you deserve,

to give and not to count the cost,

to fight and not to heed the wounds,

to labor and not to look for any reward,

save that of knowing that I do your holy will.

Faith & Service

The Christian Service program, more than just a service hours requirement, is a call to serve others as taught by Jesus Christ “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mt 18: 45) at the same time encountering Christ in the face of one’s neighbor.
The program is developmental, guiding each student through four stages:

  1. Learning to reach beyond oneself to serve others.
  2. Learning that those in need or on the margins are no different from oneself, just living in different circumstances.
  3. Seeing and loving Jesus in the other and seeking the intrinsic goodness of love for others, especially the poor and sick.
  4. Developing a life mission of service to others through the dedication of one’s God-given talents to the building of God’s Kingdom of love and peace.
