Keyla Barron – Volleyball
Sophomore Keyla Barron is a natural athlete/leader. Constantly motivating the team no matter the points on the score board. Started off on the novice team her freshman year and made it all the way up to varsity her sophomore year. Has developed tremulously and continues to improve everyday!
Juan Hernandez-Virgen – Water Polo
Sophomore Juan Hernandez is a big reason for the Aqua-Crusaders success this year. Juan plays the center position for the Crusader and is averaging 3 goals per game. In last weeks 10-6 win over Otay Ranch, Juan had 5 goals to lead the Aqua Crusaders past Otay Ranch in a pivotal league game.
Pedro Chavez-Recio – Football
Senior Pedro Chavez has led the offensive and defensive lines for the football team this year. Both on and off the field Pedro is the perfect teammate and exactly what a Crusader football player should be about.
Peyton Zizzi – Golf
As the only senior on the team, Payton has provided guidance to the five freshman and one sophomore on the team. Her leadership has been key to the teams success in winning the mesa league title and being seeded #4 in the county for CIF playoffs. First time in Marian or MD school history that a Lady Crusader golf team has made it to the CIF playoffs. Go Crusaders!
Brighid Healy – Cross Country
Brighid Healy ’17 , is one of this year’s team captain and top runner for the Lady Crusaders. Her determination and commitment to a strong work ethic has set the example for all Cross Country athletes. As the top female runner for the past three years, Brighid has handled the pressure and expectations of her extremely well. She has earned several medals and is ranked in the top 20 female runners in the Mesa League. Congratulations Brighid and and best of luck at Conference Finals and CIF!
Luis Cerna Gomez – Cross Country
Luis Cerna Gomez, class of 2017, had dominant performances during the month of October. After his breakthrough performance at Mt. San Antonio College Cross Country Invitational (the largest high school cross country invitational in the United States), Luis continued to improve and better his time and the team ranking. As a returning Varsity runner and team captain, Luis has played a crucial role in league meets and is a member of this year’s CIF Team.
