Faith & Service

As a Catholic High School, Mater Dei is committed to educating the hearts, minds and souls of our students. As a Catholic school, it is our mission to integrate faith into all aspects of our learning community. We begin each day with morning prayer to become more mindful of Christ’s presence throughout each day. It is our hope that as each student progresses through their semester Theology course, they come to grow in their relationship with Christ and understand the importance of living their Christian faith and growing in virtue.

We gather as one community to celebrate bi-monthly Mass and several times a year with our Mater Dei Juan Diego Academy brothers and sisters. During Mass we experience our Catholic faith in its fullness. Our chaplains also celebrate Mass each week during lunch and offer adoration each week.

Campus Ministry

The Campus Ministry Office promotes the spiritual development of the students and their families, faculty and staff at MDCHS.  Campus Ministry aims to provide opportunities for all members of the Mater Dei Catholic High School Family to join in common efforts to provide for the needs of all people served by MDCHS.  The goals of Campus Ministry are accomplished through activities such as Liturgical Celebrations, Annual Retreats and Christian Service Programs.

Retreats

Student participation in annual Campus Ministry retreats continues to promote the importance of communal prayer and support on each other’s spiritual journeys.

Spiritual Direction

Our Miles Christi Chaplains continue to support students, faculty and staff by celebrating the Sacraments and providing spiritual direction. Fr. Claude Lombardo, Fr. Paul de Souza and Sr. Luz Jimenez meet with hundreds of students throughout the year for spiritual direction which continues to foster holiness and bring truth, wisdom and grace to students facing challenges.

Service

A common thread woven throughout all areas of Mater Dei’s campus is servant leadership. Our students are encouraged to think beyond themselves and offer their time and talents to support the needs of our community. We offer a variety of service opportunities through the Response and Junior Optimist Clubs as well as some international service trips. This allows our students to grow in their love for God and others.

Parents In Prayer

One of the tenets of building our faith community is taking time to focus on Christ’s love. Marian/Mater Dei Catholic High School was born out of a devotion to our patroness, The Blessed Mother. We are committed to praying the Rosary every week with parents, faculty and staff for everyone in the Mater Dei Community.
