Thank You to Our Donors

Dear Marian/Mater Dei Alumni, Donors and Friends,

Thank you for supporting our mission and the individual students who are out in the world making a difference and igniting their communities with “hope.”

For 60-Years, Marian/Marian Catholic and Mater Dei Students have shared their educational experiences wherever they work, live and worship. We continue to build on that tradition of excellence established 60 years ago when Marian High School first opened its doors.

I’d like to thank our generous donors over the years and recognize Dr. Estelle Kassebaum for her vision and hard work to sustain Marian’s commitment to academic excellence with the opening of Mater Dei Catholic High School’s Chula Vista campus in 2007.

Today Mater Dei operates a TK-7th grade dual language school, which will include 8th grade in 2021. This will make us the only TK-12th grade Diocesan Catholic school in San Diego county.

During these challenging times in the world, Mater Dei has worked tirelessly to make modifications to its campus, teaching modalities and protocols to keep students safe, engaged and thriving. With your support, we can continue to develop the hearts, minds and souls of our students, which is needed now more than ever.

Please consider making a pledge to our Mater Dei Fund, which helps us to invest in our students, programs and technology to ensure the highest levels of education both on campus and through distance learning. We are currently one of the only schools open for in-person learning in the South Bay.

All donations raised will directly impact every Mater Dei student. Thank you and God Bless,

JOHN REY, CPA, CFP®, President

Testimonials

“I’m Marco and I’m a leukemia survivor. When I was going through my treatment, the Mater Dei community kindly lifted me up by letting me practice with the football team, sending me cards at the hospital, and praying for me everyday. The support carried me through and helped me to fight leukemia. I know what it takes to be a Crusader!”

“I’m currently at UCLA studying Biochemistry. Thanks to the Academy of Science internship I had at USD, I found a love for biochemistry. Dr. Provost at USD changed my perception of this field and helped me to see how I could use my gifts in the world. I loved working in the lab researching cancer cells. My experience at Mater Dei was rich with opportunity and potential for growth! I am blessed to say that I was able to make my family proud as a first generation Filipino American. I wanted my parents to know the sacrifices they made were worth it!”

“My Catholic education at Marian was extremely formative for me in all aspects of my life. The teachers at Marian encouraged us to use our God-given gifts, to always strive to do our best and to be Christ-centered.  I am deeply grateful for my Catholic school experience and the legacy of Marian that is carried on and even exceeded by Mater Dei. Because of my extraordinary experience at Marian, my husband and I committed early in our marriage to not only send our children to Catholic schools, but to support Catholic education in every way possible.”
