The Exceptional Value and Impact of a Mater Dei Catholic Education

We are Mater Dei Catholic, San Diego’s multicultural TK through 12th grade Catholic school. In the past six decades, we have continued to evolve how we serve our community by offering a distinctive and unrivaled Catholic education. Thanks to you, Mater Dei is home to San Diego’s best and brightest students and student athletes. We’re proud of our record of consistently sending graduates to this country’s top 20 universities. Those alumni are now improving this world with the same level of dedication and care as they did when they were students here at Mater Dei.

Our story began in 1960 as Marian High School, the first coed Catholic high school in San Diego. Its distinct and powerful spirit inspired students to love, know, and serve God both on and off campus. When Estelle Kassebaum (Dr. K) joined Marian in 1995, she forged a plan to move the school to a new, bigger, and more beautiful campus. In 2007, we re-opened our doors as Mater Dei Catholic High School (MDCHS) on a 48-acre campus in Otay Ranch, Chula Vista. In 2015, we further expanded and opened Mater Dei Catholic Elementary (MDCE), the first Catholic dual-language immersion program in San Diego. By 2021, we were the city’s first and only TK-12th grade Catholic school and the second-largest private school in San Diego.

UNRESTRICTED.

The Mater Dei Fund is the foundation for our school’s fundraising efforts and our top philanthropic priority. A gift to the Mater Dei Fund is the best gift anyone can give to our schools since it is UNRESTRICTED and is used to help to continue our Crusader tradition while remaining at the forefront of education.

CULTURE OF GIVING.

Participation in the Mater Dei Fund is as important as the gift itself. It shows community support and helps attract gifts from outside sources. We are providing opportunities to many who otherwise could not afford a Catholic education. We are changing the world, one student at a time. Join us!
