We had a big week this week. First, I’d like to thanks ASB, Mrs. Braunstein and our chaperones for helping to organize a very fun Spring Fling dance for our freshmen and sophomores. It was a two-year wait for our sophomores to come to their first dance at MDCHS, and everyone seemed to have a great time. On Monday, we welcomed students and faculty to campus with an option to wear a mask, as the mask mandate for schools was lifted. There is a different spirit on campus this week as a result and I just want to remind everyone to continue to practice good hygiene and follow safety protocols so we can continue to keep everyone healthy on campus.

Now that masking is moving to “highly recommended,” students out of dress code will be more noticeable. We would appreciate your partnership in having students follow the expected dress code (clean-shaven and neatly groomed). Thank You!

This morning you received an email that tickets are on sale now for our 2nd Annual Blue & Gold Night on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Our Advancement team has planned an amazing night with foods from around the world, live and silent auction, live entertainment and dancing, all to raise money for our Turf & Track fundraising campaign. The plan is to have the new stadium completed before we start our 2022-2023 school year next fall. This week, we had our first all-school Mass with our MDJDA students for Ash Wednesday. You can see a glimpse of our celebration above. It was hot, but a beautiful event celebrated by our President Fr. Martinez, SJ and Chaplain Fr. Paul. Sr. Luz Maria also joined us in distributing ashes. Last week’s Night for the Homeless event was also a big success. We had over 115 participants including MDJDA middle school students, who helped make 150 personal hygiene bags to distribute to Catholic Charities of San Diego and Desayunador Padre Chave in Tijuana.

Tonight we have our Night for the Homeless event which is sure to be an incredible evening for our students as we collaborate with local non-profit to promote ways to support those in need. Lastly, I’d like to remind our Freshmen and Sophomore students to get their tickets for the Spring Fling dance. This is an outdoor event and details for tickets and COVID-19 testing are below.
